It’s time for the Corrie ten Boom’s to Arise!

Some thoughts for the first candle of Channukah/ Christmas 2024.

A number of years ago, when taking groups to visit Yad va Shem, (Israel’s Museum for the Holocaust or Shoa) I often found myself repeating this little phrase – “It’s time for the Corrie ten Boom’s to arise!” My sense was that a time was coming when taking a stand against racism, injustice and in particular antisemitism, could become as costly as it was for Corrie and her family during World War Two. In this video, I have a conversation on this theme with two people, Andrew and Daphne Kirk, who in my view, truly are living as Corrie ten Booms of this hour. As antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiments are rising on the face of the earth, they are lifting their voices as trumpets, despite the high personal price that they have paid. It was my privilege to share some thoughts with them in this conversation, including what I see God doing at this hour in the Middle East. I hope this video will inspire others to also take a stand, when so much of the church is silent as the Jewish people are once again afraid in many of the nations of the earth.
